The ETIM UK HVAC & Plumbing Sector includes product classes and features:
- Heating equipment
- Ventilation & air conditioning equipment
- Pipe & fittings, HVAC controls
- Plumbing and sanitary products.
From 1 January 2020, the BMF is the Sector Lead Organisation for developing the ETIM data standard for HVAC & Plumbing products.
The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) is the organisation that represents and protects the interests of builders merchants, plumbing, heating, roofing, decorative and timber merchants and their suppliers in the UK and Ireland. We are the authoritative voice for the building materials distribution sector, conveying the views and issues that face merchants and suppliers, to the widest possible audience.
The BMF (Builders Merchants Federation) is the trade association that represents and protects the interests of builders’ merchants & suppliers to the building materials sector in the UK and Ireland.
Total membership from 1 Sept 2026 stands at 1,020 merchant, supplier and service companies who together have combined sales of c£54.5bn and employ 223,000 people in the building materials industry. The BMF’s 511 merchant members, including 68 from Ireland, operate from just over 5,800 branches across the UK and Ireland.
The BMF is the active hub of merchant and supplier activity in the UK, working closely with allied industry groups and regulatory bodies such as trading standards and planning departments, to ensure that issues affecting merchants and suppliers are tackled promptly and effectively. The BMF is an active lobbyist with local and central government in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and has an impressive track record of achievements.
