Also held in January 2018 was the second meeting of the Lighting Control group featuring experts from Gewiss, Feilo Sylvania, Venture Lighting, Deta, CP Electronics (part of Legrand), Illuma and ABB.
Vital to have one standard
John Mercer (pictured below), Product Manager at CP Electronics, the energy-controls business unit of Legrand, has been involved in the Standardization Working Groups for the creation of ETIM-UK for Lighting Control, Luminaires and Emergency Lighting.
“For us, ETIM for the UK is the future,” explains John “Legrand recognises ETIM’s relevance and of having standardised product data created to support each business unit in their own countries. It’s vital that we all work to one standard and that’s ETIM. Legrand is appointing an ETIM specialist for each of its business units and I’m the lead for CP Electronics.
“As the BIM lead I can also see the convergence potential between ETIM and BIM. Our products are Level 2 approved to BS8541 parts 1, 3 and 4. And this positions CP Electronics at the forefront of BIM for the future.”
